Lieutenant Colonel Sally Graham

Lieutenant Colonel Graham completed training at the Australian Defence Force Academy and Royal Military College over the period 2001-2005. She was assigned to the Royal Australian Corps of Transport and awarded Geography Honours to her Bachelor of Arts.

At the tactical level, Lieutenant Colonel Graham has had three logistics postings to one of the Australian Army’s combat brigades and two postings to the Australian Defence Force’s movements unit. As a movements officer she deployed twice in a command appointment; to Timor Leste in 2008/9 and to Indonesia for Operation Padang Assist in 2009. She has also worked on the military headquarters responsible for border protection operations.

Lieutenant Colonel Graham has had a range of experiences engaging with international partners. She deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan in 2011, working to Regional Command South in the area of Afghan Security Force development. She is also a graduate of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation’s Logistics and Movement Officer Course and filled the role of Staff Officer Grade One logistics planner within United Nations Command for Exercise Key Resolve in Korea during 2017.

Lieutenant Colonel Graham has recent experience in in the areas of human performance research, training and education concepts and human resources. During 2021/2022 she was posted as a deputy director within the Strategic Logistics Branch of Joint Logistics Command. She has continued her strategic logistics work in her current appointment to the Australian Embassy to Belgium, as the Australian Logistics Liaison Officer to NATO.

In addition to her honours degree, Lieutenant Colonel Graham holds a Master of Management (Human Resource Management) and a Master of International and Community Development. She also obtained a Master in Military and Defence while at the Australian Command and Staff Course, having been one of the few students to be selected for the demanding Art of War program, designed to develop strategic planners.

Lieutenant Colonel Graham is married to Colonel Paul Graham who is currently posted as the ADF’s Defence Attaché to Germany, Poland and Ukraine. Together they have a son, Xavier, 9 and daughter Isabella, 7.
