Joachim Hofbauer is the Head of the Multinational Capability Cooperation Unit within the Defence Investment Division at the NATO HQ. In this role, he is responsible for formulating, initiating, and advancing NATO’s multinational capability delivery efforts in response to NATO’s most critical capability areas. Before joining NATO he served as a fellow with the Defense-Industrial Initiatives Group at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington DC. During his time at CSIS he specialized in U.S. and European defense acquisition and industrial base issues and their impact on the transatlantic defense market. Prior to CSIS, Mr. Hofbauer worked as a defense analyst in Germany and the United Kingdom. Mr. Hofbauer holds a B.A. in European Studies from the University of Passau and an M.A. with honors in Security Studies, with a concentration in defense analysis, from Georgetown University.
